DATEV MITTELSTANDSINDEX

No increase in revenue for micro-enterprises

Small and medium-sized enterprises are showing a slight improvement in sales trends, though without any clear economic momentum. The DATEV SME Sales Index stood at 98.2 points in February, seasonally and calendar-adjusted. Compared to the previous month, the index rose by 1.2 percent. Compared to the same month last year, seasonally and calendar-adjusted growth was 0.4 percent, while unadjusted growth was 0.7 percent. Nominal sales are thus trending slightly upward without any significant acceleration.

The wage index continues to rise. Seasonally and calendar-adjusted, it reached 123.6 points in February, up 0.7 percent from the previous month. Compared with the same month last year, this represents an increase of 5.4 percent. Wage growth thus remains clearly expansive.

Employment, on the other hand, is showing rather modest growth. The seasonally and calendar-adjusted index stood at 100.7 points in February, unchanged from the previous month. Compared with the same month last year, there was a slight decline of 0.3 percent.
